Eating my words...
Ok, so when anyone asked me what kind of law I want to practice(which is still almost everyday), my answer has always been "NOT criminal and NOT domestic (family law)." I'm pretty much fine with everything else. Well how's this for God having a sense of humor and telling me who's boss...here's the description of the job I'm sending in an application for tomorrow:
RURAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GRANT - GRANT EXPIRES 07-31-2007.
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION, WILL INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND OTHER CASES INVOLVING ACTS AGAINST WOMEN. WILL SERVE SEVEN RURAL COUNTIES; CHESTERFIELD, MARLBORO, DARLINGTON, DILLON, MARION, CLARENDON AND WILLIAMSBURG. WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH SC COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ORGANIZATION. WILL SERVE AS A LIAISON BETWEEN VICTIM SERVICE PROVIDERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND PROSECUTORS. WILL COORDINATE AND PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING BETWEEN THE SC CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACADEMY, SERVICE PROVIDERS AND THIS OFFICE. WILL PREPARE LEGAL MEMORANDA, AND OTHER RELATED DOCUMENTS. ASSIST WITH OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE SUPERVISING ATTORNEY AND CHIEF DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL.
Now I have no idea if this will work out or not, but for some reason I felt like God was telling to put in my application. Perhaps it's similar to Abraham and Isaac and God just wants to see if I will obey a command that is so very opposite of what I desired and He will close that door for me. Or perhaps I may have a job very soon, one that involves both criminal AND domestic, and God and everyone else can have a good chuckle at my expense.
Reminds me of the days when I thought there was nothing worse than being a Clemson Tiger. God-2, Jerri-O.
